The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) started the week on a strong note on Monday, gaining nearly 1,200 points amid renewed investor confidence.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed at 162,803.15, up by 1171.42 points or 0.72%.
Buying activity was prominent across key sectors such as automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration, oil marketing companies (OMCs), power generation, and refineries. Major index contributors including HUBCO, ARL, MARI, OGDC, PPL, POL, HBL, MEBL, and NBP all traded in the green.
This recovery follows a lacklustre performance last week, when the market closed lower after a volatile trading spell marked by geopolitical uncertainties, profit-taking, and mixed corporate earnings. The KSE-100 Index had then slipped 1.03% week-on-week, ending at 161,631.73 points.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee posted a slight gain against the US dollar, appreciating 0.06% in the inter-bank market to settle at 280.75, up Rs0.16.
The currency had also maintained a positive trend last week, rising Rs0.11 or 0.04% against the greenback.
