Driving without a valid license in Karachi will now result in heavy fines of up to Rs 50,000, Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon has announced.
During a media briefing, the IG said that the new law aims to strictly enforce driving license regulations across Sindh.
Under the revised penalties, motorcyclists caught without a license will face a fine of Rs 20,000, Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) drivers Rs 30,000, and Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) drivers Rs 50,000. These fines will be applicable throughout the province.
Moreover, speed limits have been standardized on Karachi’s main roads to enhance road safety. Motorcycles and LTVs are restricted to a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour, while HTVs must not exceed 30 kilometers per hour.
To ensure compliance, speed-monitoring cameras are being installed citywide to track violations automatically.
