New kinds of scammers are active in the capital city, Islamabad, these days. These individuals stand by the roadside, ask car drivers for a lift, and then blackmail them once inside the vehicle.
According to a post on social media, the scammers are often women or sometimes transgender individuals who request a lift and, after getting into the car, begin blackmailing the drivers by demanding cash and other valuables.

Out of fear of damage to their reputation, many drivers silently hand over money, mobile phones, and other valuables.
The social media post claimed that several people have fallen victim to these scammers. It advised drivers not to give lifts to strangers and, in case they encounter such a situation, to stop at a police checkpoint or petrol station and inform the authorities instead of remaining silent and getting robbed.
