ISLAMABAD: Zimbabwe Cricket has officially accepted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) invitation to participate in the upcoming Tri-Nation T20 Series, which will also feature Sri Lanka, according to a report by Dawn News.
Following Afghanistan’s withdrawal from the tournament amid political tensions, the tri-series will now be contested between Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka, as originally scheduled. The matches will be played from November 17 to 29 across Rawalpindi and Lahore.
The series will begin with an opening clash between Pakistan and Zimbabwe on November 17 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, followed by the second match between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on November 19 at the same venue.
The remaining five matches, including the final, will be held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Earlier, Afghanistan had pulled out of the event, citing “current tensions” with Pakistan. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had issued a statement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) containing what Pakistani officials described as propaganda and misleading claims related to security incidents.
The ACB had claimed that due to recent disputes, it was not possible to proceed with the scheduled series in Pakistan next month.
