With Pakistan’s win in the first match of the two-Test series against South Africa, national team spinner Noman Ali broke former legendary spinner Abdul Qadir’s 37-year-old record in the first Test played at Gaddafi Stadium.
According to details, Noman Ali has become the Pakistani bowler to take the most wickets over a span of five consecutive Tests. He claimed 46 wickets from his 16th to 20th Test matches.
Abdul Qadir had taken 44 wickets between his 48th and 52nd Test matches during 1987 and 1988.
Pakistan’s Noman Ali is also the most successful spinner in the world over the past 12 months.
Noman Ali took 10 wickets against South Africa in the Lahore Test — six in the first innings and four in the second.
Earlier this year, he took six wickets in the first Test and 10 in the second Test against the West Indies, while in the series against England, Noman Ali dismissed 11 players in Multan and 9 in Rawalpindi.
It should be noted that Pakistani spinner Noman Ali had also made his name into the record books on the third day of the Test match yesterday. He broke former Pakistani spinner Iqbal Qasim’s 37-year-old Test record against South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium.
The 39-year-old Noman Ali took six wickets in South Africa’s first innings, marking the ninth time in his Test career that he has taken five or more wickets in an innings. He has now become the Pakistani left-arm spinner with the most five-wicket hauls in Test innings.
