Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Umer Ayoub and Shibli Faraz, could not get relief from the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) verdict in the May 9 case, as the apex court orders them to surrender before the concerned ATCs.
As per media reports, PHC on Wednesday announced the reserved verdict on PTI leaders’ petitions, seeking relief against ATCs’ verdicts in May 9 cases, and rejected their pleas.
In the 30-page verdict, he apex court upheld the ATCs’ verdicts and ordered the applicants to surrender before the concerned ATCs.
It may be recalled that in August this year, different ATC courts in Punjab handed over sentences to several PTI leaders, including Umer Ayub and Shibli Faraz, who were opposition leaders in the National Assembly and the Senate; however, these readers did not surrender to the law and challenged the verdict in PCH.
After the ATC’s verdicts, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified these leaders as members of the parliament.
