The body of 7-year-old Saad Ali, who had been missing for six days, was found in a garbage dump in Karachi’s Landhi area. Police have taken two suspects into custody as surgeon confirmed evidence of rape in postmortem.
As per details, Saad, a resident of Landhi, had gone out to buy snacks on September 18 but never returned home. His family searched extensively and also registered a missing person’s case.
On Monday night, the child’s body was discovered near Lal Mazar, close to his home, in a garbage dumping area. Saad was the only child of his parents, and the family is devastated by the tragedy.
Locals reported that Saad had left home with 20 rupees to buy a treat and was never seen again.
According to police, the body appeared to be 5 to 6 days old. An investigation has been launched from all angles to determine the cause of death.
Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Tariq said that the postmortem confirmed the evidence of sexual abuse.
The police surgeon said that the child died from a severe head injury caused by a heavy object. Samples from various body parts have been sent for chemical analysis.
After conducting the post-mortem, police handed over the body to the family. The family stated that Saad Ali’s funeral and burial will take place after Zuhr (midday) prayers.
Landhi SHO Rizwan Patel said that Saad had gone missing from the area, and his father, Mohammad Salman, filed an FIR under Section 364-A of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 3(i) of TIP (Trafficking in Persons) Act on September 18.
He further said that police began a search using intelligence sources, but unfortunately, at around 9:15 PM on Monday, Saad’s body was recovered from an empty plot in Landhi’s Sector 4-B, packed inside a sack.
The officer added that police took swift action and arrested two suspects, Sohail Qureshi and Mohammad Hasan, from the same locality. Both are allegedly involved in the rape and murder, and reportedly knew the victim personally.
