ISLAMABAD – The federal government has relaunched the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025, offering thousands of students enrolled in universities and colleges across Pakistan free laptops under the Prime Minister Youth Programme.
Officials said the initiative aims to ease financial barriers that prevent students from accessing online classes, research facilities, and freelancing opportunities.
“For many families, buying a laptop remains out of reach,” the statement noted, “and the scheme is meant to bridge this gap.”
To address widespread queries about application status, the government has introduced an online tracking system.
Students can now visit laptop.pmyp.gov.pk, enter their CNIC number, select their university from the drop-down menu, and instantly view whether their application has been approved, is under review, or has been rejected.
Authorities insist the laptops are intended to promote digital access, enabling students to attend virtual classes without delays, use digital libraries, develop IT skills, and even undertake freelance or remote work to support their families.
