Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar was the wife of former Nepali Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal. She was tragically burned alive during recent violent protests in Kathmandu, Nepal.
As per details, protesters set fire to their residence in the Dallu area of Kathmandu amid nationwide unrest triggered by the government’s ban on major social media platforms.
Chitrakar was inside the house when it was torched, and despite being rushed to Kirtipur Burn Hospital in critical condition, she succumbed to her injuries.
The protests, led by young citizens angry over the social media restrictions and broader issues of corruption, also caused the resignation of then-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and involved attacks on several political figures and government buildings.
