Light and heavy rainfall continues in various areas of Karachi. Power supply has also been suspended in many areas of the city, as reported by national media.
The Meteorological Department had predicted stormy rains in Karachi from the 8th. From Tuesday morning, intermittent light and heavy rainfall is continuing in most areas of the city, including Malir, Quaidabad, Shah Faisal Colony, Surjani Town, Safora, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Sohrab Goth, Saddar, Clifton, and Shahrah-e-Faisal.
From 8 pm on Tuesday night, a heavy spell of rain started due to which water accumulated at Shahrah-e-Faisal, near Drigh Road underpass, Model Colony, Rashid Minhas Road, NIPA, Safora, and Malir areas, and traffic flow was affected.
Due to accumulation of rainwater, the road from Nagan Chowrangi to North Karachi has also been closed for traffic, while the administration is draining water through machinery. Near New Karachi Saba Cinema, water entered houses.
There is also flooding in Malir River, and water overflowed onto Korangi Causeway, after which the road was closed for traffic.
Near Khameeso Goth, upon receiving reports of a mini-truck and rickshaw being swept away in Thado River, search is ongoing. Due to Malir River overflowing, the road leading to the eye hospital in Bakra Peeri and Memon Goth is closed, causing distress to local residents.
Similarly, at Ayub Goth Bridge and Lassi Goth, river overflow has caused water to enter streets and houses, severely affecting children, elderly, and women, who have appealed to the administration for immediate help.
City administration says that due to flooding in rivers, there is a challenging situation, however, major highways have been cleared for traffic.
