More than 2.4 million people have been affected by floods in Punjab, while nearly 1 million people have been moved to safe locations. A flood surge of 1.3 million cusecs is expected to pass from Sindh after the next 48 to 72 hours.
According to details, the flood has entered South Punjab. In Multan, a large flood surge of the River Chenab is passing through Head Muhammad Wala. After water entered multiple settlements, rescue teams have been relocating people from the affected villages to safe places.
In Multan, the water level of the River Chenab has risen. Near Akbar Flood Embankment, the police placed barriers and closed Head Muhammad Wala Road for traffic. A flood surge of 490,000 cusecs has reached Head Muhammad Wala. Today, a flood surge of 800,000 cusecs will pass through Multan. In case of excess water, a breach will be made in the embankment, for which all preparations have been completed.

Additional Chief Secretary Punjab, Fawad Hashim Rabbani, made an emergency visit to Muzaffargarh and reviewed rescue and relief activities at the Doaba point on the banks of the River Chenab. He said that the administration and people of South Punjab are facing the challenge of floods.
He said that our top priority is to save human lives. We have to deal with this challenge with wisdom and better strategy. People should not be afraid but remain alert.
Meanwhile, in Bahawalnagar, a major flood surge in the River Sutlej broke the embankment at Chawika Bahadur, submerging several villages in floodwaters. With water present on the main highway, ground connectivity has been cut off.
In Chichawatni, after several villages were submerged due to floods, people, along with their livestock, are continuing to move to safe places. In the village Pakkay Wala of Jhang, a 45-year-old woman drowned in the floodwaters.
According to local residents, Shehnaz Bibi was returning to her home when the floodwater receded but was swept away by strong currents on the way. Local residents recovered the woman’s body from the water and handed it over to the family.
In Nankana Sahib, at Head Balloki point in the River Ravi, there is a high-level flood. Nearby areas have been submerged. Flood victims complained that they have not yet received any aid.
