Due to extremely high-level flooding at two barrages in Lahore, the district administration has been placed on high alert, while there is a risk of loss of life and property in case of further flooding.
According to details, extremely high-level flooding is underway at Head Marala and Khanki barrages in Lahore. The Flood Forecasting Division has raised the alarm, stating that the water level in the River Chenab at Qadirabad is continuously rising.
At Qadirabad Barrage, water inflow has been recorded at 278,804 cusecs, while outflow stands at 277,592 cusecs. The district administration remains on high alert to monitor the flood situation.
In the River Sutlej at Head Sulaimanki, the water level is also continuously rising, with flow recorded at 135,500 cusecs. Floodwater has entered the belt area of Haveli Lakha, causing severe damage to crops.
Several villages and settlements have been submerged, where the local population is facing severe difficulties. People have begun to migrate while the district administration is engaged in relief efforts.
It should be noted that due to flooding, there is a high risk of heavy losses in Lahore and several other areas of Punjab, in view of which relief activities have been accelerated.
