Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has decided to step down from his party position.
According to details, Raja announced his decision in a statement, saying he would meet the PTI founder to formally request that his resignation be accepted.
He clarified that while he is relinquishing his role as PTI Secretary General, he will continue to provide his services as a lawyer for the party, free of charge.
In a message posted on social media, Raja expressed gratitude for the chairman’s trust in him, stating that he has always struggled for democracy, the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law. He added that he consistently raised his voice against oppression of women and minorities and fought for the rights of workers and pensioners.
Raja highlighted his legal contributions, including his role in the Air Marshal Asghar Khan case, the legal battle against the NRO, and his success in cases related to Tyrian White, iddat, the cipher controversy, and military courts. He also described winning the case over reserved seats as a major achievement.
He said that he had been implicated in 20 false terrorism cases, but imprisonment did not deter him, and he would continue his struggle. “I am neither a feudal nor a traditional politician; my small family stands firmly with me,” he remarked.
Raja added that he had endured every kind of attack, both inside and outside the party, and remained steadfast. He vowed to continue standing alongside the PTI founder while offering his legal services without charge.
