ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has submitted a set of recommendations to the federal government to counter the alarming rise in online financial fraud and other cybercrimes.
According to details shared on Sunday, the NCCIA called for a joint operational mechanism among key institutions, urging stronger coordination between the FIA, PTA, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and telecom operators.
The proposal recommends joint raids and coordinated actions to dismantle organized fraud networks.
The agency also proposed the establishment of a rapid reporting system and a clear framework for securing digital evidence, stressing that swift investigations and legal proceedings are vital in curbing cybercrime.
Sources revealed that the NCCIA’s recommendations include legal reforms and judicial adjustments to keep pace with evolving digital threats.
The plan further suggests monitoring suspicious call traffic and blocking illegal VoIP setups often used by fraudulent call centres.
The NCCIA warned that such fraudulent centres could erode public trust in Pakistan’s digital financial infrastructure.
It declared their elimination essential for protecting citizens’ economic security and advised launching nationwide awareness campaigns to educate users against online deception.
