Dacoits on Monday robbed Rs15 million from a foreign company as well as the weapon of a security guard in broad daylight in Fishery located in Keamari District.
According to police, a Korean company operating in the Fishery area is shutting down its factory, and the money had been withdrawn to pay bonuses and other dues to employees.
The cashier had withdrawn Rs 14.4 million from a private bank located in the Fishery area, while another Rs 760,000 was already kept in a separate bag.
Police said that as soon as the vehicle left the bank and reached outside the company, five armed men riding three motorcycles intercepted it. The robbers snatched the security guard’s weapon and fled after looting both bags of cash.
Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage. They suspect that someone from within the factory may have been involved in the heist, but said that confirmation will only be possible after a thorough inquiry.
