Karachi’s Korangi Police have arrested a TikTok user for openly resorting to aerial firing on Independence Day, while efforts are underway to apprehend her two accomplices.
According to police, a video of the celebratory firing went viral on social media. SHO Korangi, Adeel Afzal, stated that the footage clearly showed a young woman firing into the air while accompanied by two men who appeared to encourage her actions.
Following the viral video, a case was registered by the police under state complaint. In his statement, ASI Faisal Rahim said that the video had circulated across multiple WhatsApp groups, showing the girl firing shots into the air while two individuals stood beside her.
Upon further investigation, the girl was identified as Amna Baig. On August 14, at around 12:10 a.m., she was seen near Double Road, Bengali Camp, Korangi No. 2 ½, along with her companions Owais and Saeed Khan.
According to the complaint, Owais initially fired several shots into the air and then handed his pistol to Amna, guiding her hand and urging her to shoot. Saeed also reportedly provoked her into opening fire.
Police subsequently registered FIR No. 468/2025 under Sections 324, 337-H(ii), 109, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code against the suspects.
SHO Korangi confirmed that Amna has been arrested and handed over to the investigation police for further inquiry. She has also been identified as a former official of the Police QRF (Quick Response Force).
