A tragic incident occurred on Friday when a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government helicopter crashed while conducting flood relief and rescue operations in the Bajaur district.
According to officials, the helicopter had been dispatched to assist residents in flood-affected areas, delivering aid and evacuating stranded families. While returning from its mission, contact with the aircraft was lost as it entered the Mohmand district.
Search teams were immediately deployed, and after several hours of combing the rugged terrain, authorities confirmed the helicopter had gone down. Three people on board were killed in the crash.
The identities of the victims have not yet been made public.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash, with initial reports suggesting poor weather and challenging flying conditions in the mountainous region may have played a role.
KP Chief Minister and other provincial leaders have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, paying tribute to the crew’s dedication in risking their safety to aid flood-affected communities.
