Security forces have killed 33 India-backed terrorists near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Zhob district, Balochistan, thwarting their attempt to infiltrate the country, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The statement said the terrorists’ movement was detected through technical means on the night of August 7–8 in the Sambaza area of Zhob. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area, leading to a heavy exchange of fire that continued for several hours.
ISPR confirmed that a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives — intended for sabotage inside Pakistan — was recovered from the dead terrorists.
The military spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its borders and eliminating anti-state elements, emphasizing the ongoing “zero tolerance” policy against terrorism. Clearance operations are continuing in the area to ensure any remaining threats are neutralized.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the security forces for foiling the infiltration attempt, praising their courage in putting their lives at risk to crush the terrorists’ designs. He reiterated the nation’s unity in the fight against terrorism, assuring that the government will continue its efforts to eradicate this menace.
Separately, in Hovid and Wazirabad areas of Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police and security forces arrested 14 suspected terrorist facilitators and destroyed three hideouts during a joint search and targeted operation based on intelligence reports, according to Radio Pakistan.
