Pakistan’s Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem made shocking revelations, saying that most of the rewards – especially plot prizes – promised after the 2024 Paris Olympics triumphs were false as he’s still waiting to receive them.
The javelin ace, who is set to lock horns with India’s Neeraj Chopra next month at the Diamond League event in Silesia, Poland, in their first head-to-head contest since the Paris Olympics, was asked whether the prizes promised to him were actually delivered.
“All those prizes involving plots, I never received any of them. But I did get the cash and other prizes that were promised,” he replied.
He further said that his primary focus at the moment is his own training and long-term objectives. “Right now, I am fully concentrating on myself because the goals ahead are quite substantial,” he said.
Arshad also shared that, despite his demanding schedule, he makes time to mentor and train aspiring athletes in Pakistan. “Young athletes come to us for training, and Alhamdulillah, we do guide them. However, I remain focused on my own progress,” he added.
In May, Nadeem threw a massive 86.4m to win gold in the men’s javelin final at the Asian Athletics Championship in Gumi, South Korea.
