Air Karachi, a new budget private airline, has been granted a Regular Public Transport (RPT) license to launch operations in various cities of the country.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has issued the license. Air Karachi has now officially entered the commercial aviation sector.
PCAA sources said that following the license approval, Air Karachi may soon commence its flight operations.
It should be noted that the business community of Karachi had earlier unveiled plans to launch the aforementioned airline. Businessman Hanif Gohar announced that the airline will commence operations with an initial investment of Rs 5 billion, with each shareholder contributing Rs 50 million.
Retired Air Vice Marshal Imran, former Southern Air Commander, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Karachi. In its initial phase, the airline intends to lease three aircraft.
Prominent shareholders include Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, SM Tanveer, Bashir Jan Muhammad, Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, and Hamza Tabani.
