The case of a body found hanging from a house in Karachi’s Maripur area has been solved. According to the police, the person who committed suicide turned out to be an escaped prisoner of Malir Jail.
Police officials said that the prisoner who committed suicide has been identified as Raza, who was arrested in a drug case at Eidgah police station and sent to Malir Jail. A case was registered against Raza at Eidgah police station on March 30, 2022.
Police say that Raza was among the prisoners who escaped from Malir Jail a few days ago. After the escape, Raza went into hiding, and his body was finally found hanging from a noose in a house in Maripur.
It should be noted that more than 200 prisoners had escaped from Malher Jail during the tremors of the earthquake a few days ago, the total number of whom is said to be 214. Of the escaped prisoners, 119 have been recaptured and returned to prison so far, while 95 prisoners are still at large. Most of the prisoners were brought back to prison by their families.
