Private bank manager killed by robbers in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL: A private bank manager was shot dead over resisting a robbery attempt in a house in Sahiwal’s Liaquatpur area in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to police sources, a gang of three robbers tried to loot valuables from the house of a private bank manager, Mumtaz Dogar in Liaquatpur area, however, the man offered resistance to the robbers.

As a result of resistance, the robbers opened fire on him. The man suffered severe bullet injuries and died on the spot. The police said Mumtaz Dogar was working as a bank manager for a private bank.

Police added the robbers had entered his house and were holding his family hostage. Dogar, however, tried to put up resistance the attempt following which the robbers shot him. The robbers fled the scene in a car and took jewelry and about Rs1 million cash with them from the house.

Police initiated a further investigation into the incident. The body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
