The U.S. Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), a member of the global network of 49 Fulbright Commissions, has announced the conclusion of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program for Pakistan (Global UGRAD).
The U.S. Department of State officially informed USEFP that the program, after 15 transformative years, would no longer continue.
In an official statement, USEFP expressed its regret, acknowledging the disappointment this decision brings, especially for students who applied for the program this year. “The Global UGRAD Program has provided invaluable academic, cultural, and leadership development opportunities to thousands of students. We are proud of the positive impact it has left on its participants and the communities they have enriched,” the statement emphasized.
Since its inception, the Global UGRAD Program has been a bridge for fostering mutual understanding between Pakistan and the United States, creating a network of globally aware, empowered alumni. While the program’s termination is a setback, the achievements and legacy it leaves behind will continue to inspire educational and cultural collaboration.

In response, educational advocates in Pakistan are urging the exploration of new initiatives to replace the Global UGRAD program.
