Former Pakistani cricketer Arshad Khan has been appointed as the spin bowling coach for the Bangladesh cricket team, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Tuesday.
A veteran off-spinner, Arshad Khan represented Pakistan in 9 Tests and 58 ODIs from 1997 to 2006. Post-retirement, he transitioned into coaching, gaining valuable experience, including serving as a coach for the Pakistan women’s national team.
His appointment comes ahead of Bangladesh’s home Test series against Zimbabwe, set to begin on April 20 in Sylhet.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul has been contracted by the BCB as the fast bowling coach for an initial three-month term. Gul’s tenure will commence during Bangladesh’s five-match T20I series against Pakistan in May. While the contract is short-term, there is potential for extension until the 2027 World Cup, contingent on mutual satisfaction after the T20I series.
Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan in May, featuring five T20Is, will mark the start of Gul’s coaching responsibilities.
