The Mustafa murder case has taken a step forward, as the accused, Armaghan, has been found to be involved in hawala-hundi (illegal money transfer). Following this revelation, a case has been registered against him in the Anti-Money Laundering Circle on behalf of the government.
According to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the accused Armaghan was involved in hawala-hundi, digital currency, and various other illegal activities.
As per the contents of the FIR, the accused used to earn $300,000 to $400,000 per month through fraudulent means and would then convert the money into digital currency. The vehicles in his possession were also purchased using digital currency proceeds.
The FIR further revealed that Armaghan had opened bank accounts under the names of his two employees. His call center was used to make calls to the U.S., through which important information was obtained from American citizens and later used to defraud them.
According to the FIR, the money extracted through fraud would eventually reach Armaghan. It was also stated in the FIR that Armaghan established his illegal call center in 2018, from where he was running a well-organized fraud network. Each individual at the call center would defraud at least five people daily.
The FIR further disclosed that Armaghan owns three vehicles worth millions of rupees and has already sold five others. Additionally, he, along with his father, had set up companies in the U.S. to facilitate hawala-hundi transactions.
It is noteworthy that Mustafa Aamir was kidnapped on January 6, and a month later, on February 8, the police raided a bungalow in Khayaban-e-Momin, DHA, Karachi, to rescue him. During the raid, police officers came under fire, resulting in injuries to a DSP and three other personnel.
The police arrested Armaghan, who, during interrogation, confessed that he, along with Shiraz, had placed Mustafa in the trunk of his own car, taken him to Hub, and burned him.
