The price of chicken meat has risen from Rs. 850 to Rs. 950 per kg across Punjab, including the twin cities and the rest of the country, as reported by national media.
Contrary to government measures, instead of decreasing, broiler chicken prices have surged by Rs. 1,200 per 40 kg today. Federal and Punjab government efforts have proven ineffective, while the broiler mafia continues to dominate the market.

According to market sources, broiler chicken is being sold at Rs. 19,000 per 40 kg in the wholesale market, while in retail markets, the price of live broiler chicken has surpassed Rs. 505 per kg.
A report by ARY News suggests that the Poultry Farm Association’s apparent collusion has led to an artificial shortage, causing chicken prices to rise daily. Before Ramadan, chicken was being sold for Rs. 14,000 per 40 kg, while three months ago, prices ranged between Rs. 9,000 and Rs. 12,000 per 40 kg.
Under normal circumstances, broiler meat was available at Rs. 450 per kg, while live broiler chicken was priced between Rs. 270 and Rs. 300 per kg.
