BAHAWALNAGAR: Five people, including two children, were killed and 20 others injured when a passenger bus overturned in Latifabad area of Bahawalnagar district on Saturday.
Rescue sources informed that the passenger bus was it’s way to Latifabad and overturned due to poor visibility caused by fog engulfing plains of Punjab province. As a result, five people, including two children were killed on the spot, while 20 others sustained injuries.
Police said soon after the accident, locals and rescue teams reached the spot and shift the injured to the Civil Hospital Latifabad for treatment. Some of the injured was stated to be in critical condition, hospital sources said.
The identities of those killed and injured in the accident yet be ascertained. Most plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh, as well as a few districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, remained under the clutch of intense fog. the met office statement said on Saturday.
The fog caused poor visibility and made conditions hard for driving on several roads. Poor visibility has also caused scores of flights to be diverted or re-routed in the country.
