A newborn child was abducted from Mardan Medical Complex Hospital, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Friday.
According to sources, the child’s mother was being moved to the ward for treatment after delivery when an unknown burqa-clad woman approached the labour room and swiftly took the newborn away.
According to the hospital’s CCTV footage, a woman can be seen running after carrying a newborn baby. A young man can also be seen in the CCTV footage with the woman.
Mardan Medical Complex Hospital Director Dr. Tariq Mehmood claimed that the woman has been traced through CCTV footage. “Investigation will find out who abducted the child and why,” the director added.
The incident sparked fear and outrage in the area prompting the authorities to respond immediately.
